  • Spiral Lines (SL) - Bilateral

The Spiral Lines (SL) together with the helical Functional Lines (FL) are related to the movement around the sagittal axis i.e., rotation of the spine.  The Spiral Lines cross the body 3 times: (1) over C6-C7 through the fascial connection from the Splenius to the Rhomboid mm. (2) Over the mid-abdomen through the white line;  (3) Over the Tuber sacrales through the Sacral ligaments.

  • Path of the Bilateral Spiral Lines (SL)
    • The Spiral Lines start below the ear and cross over the midline proximal to C6-C7 from the Splenius m. into the Rhomboid m. and continue into the Serratus ventralis thoracis m. on the medial side of the Scapula.
    • From there they continue into the External oblique m. and cross over the midline as they weave into the Internal abdominal m. on the opposite side, then to the Tuber coxa and join the Tensor fascia lata m.
    • The Spiral Lines continue distally in the Peroneus tertius m. which surrounds the dorsal surface of the hock and turns to the plantar surface on the Tarsal bones to the Gastrocnemius m., onto the caudal head of the Biceps femoris m. and into the Sacrotuberous ligament to the Tuber sacrale.
    • Here a third crossover takes place before the lines follow the Superficial Dorsal Line (SDL)** to the head at the opposite side.

** (This part of the SDL involves the Longissimus dorsi & Iliocostalis mm. to the Spinalis m. and on to the Temporal fascia in the head.)
