  • The Kerry Ridgway Myofascial-Specific Acupoints

For the past several years, the late Dr. Kerry Ridgway (DVM, CVA) had been developing a unique and game-changing myofascial-based system of acupuncture that directly and almost immediately normalizes fascial tension in whole muscle groups (aka myofascial units). He became increasingly confident that his points are closely aligned with the fascial kinetic lines dissected and described by Elbrønd and Schultz (2015 Medical Research Archives, issue 3).

A month before presenting his work at the 2014 Congress of the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in Italy, I was fortunate to attend a 4-day seminar in which Kerry shared his research to a small group of equine veterinarians and bodyworkers.
He taught us how to palpate the muscles to recognize specific tension patterns, how to locate his points and how to release the tension by way of needles, acupressure or red-light on those points. Kerry's lectures also included topics of musculoskeletal and fascial anatomy, laterality, ulcers and much more.

In the 15 months following his course and up to his passing, Kerry continued to share his knowledge and new discoveries with me as I assisted him on farm calls. We began creating illustrations that correlate his points with the fascial kinetic lines described by Elbrønd & Schultz.

  •          In addition to being my teacher, mentor, critic and colleague, Kerry was a neighbor and good friend.  We shared a passion for the world of "fascia" and the need to enlighten others of its importance in the well-being and soundness of their horses.
